Libby camps is located in the heart of the North Maine Woods, home to some of the most remote trail systems and backcountry snowmobiling in the eastern United States. Our region averages nearly 120 inches of snow per year, so we have it when most others don’t. The North Maine Woods is 3.5 million acres of private timberland, with 3500+ miles of logging roads dispersed throughout. These roads are only plowed if the landowner is actively logging in that area, and all other roads are fair game for powder enthusiasts. Libby’s groomed trails give you easy access from the Patten and Ashland areas to the vast North Maine Woods, and act as the only northern stop on the way to the famous “Ghost Trains” and Tramway between Big Eagle and Chamberlain lakes. We sell high-octane, non-ethanol fuel, and serve hot lunch off a full menu from 10am to 4pm, 7 days a week. Try Jeff Labree’s trail-famous grilled cheese sandwich, Matt Jr’s signature “M.J. Burger,” or warm up with one of several available soups and sides, including our legendary homemade baked beans! Looking to stay on site and use us as your basecamp? Book one of our cabins and spend your evening in a rocking chair warming up by the fire and planning the next days adventure! We guarantee you’ve never experienced snowmobiling in Maine quite like this!
